No matter what your major is, you’ll need access to a computer during your time at DigiPen. All new, incoming students are required to provide their own laptop computers. The added flexibility of a laptop will help you complete work from any location, including working off-campus or with a team. Additionally, some degree programs may require the purchase of additional software — refer to the Required Materials List for details about necessary software by course.

You are free to purchase or start with a current laptop computer meeting the minimum requirements, but we suggest meeting our recommended technical requirements to help your laptop last through the full duration of your program. Laptops can be purchased from any vendor you choose, though we do recommend purchasing a warranty for repairs.

The specific technical requirements for the software used by the different academic programs does vary. Art students tend to have the most demanding needs, while the requirements for others are generally lower. As a student progresses into the higher-level courses, the technical demands usually become more intensive.

DigiPen does not control the technical needs of the industry nor its software requirements. The listed specs are based on currently available information and may change during the course of your program.
