If you are a former DigiPen student who would like to apply for readmission to a DigiPen program, please review the information on this page before starting your Readmission Application in the application portal.

Readmission Application Deadlines

  • Spring 2024 readmission: November 30, 2023
  • Summer 2024 readmission: April 8, 2024
  • Fall 2024 readmission: July 8, 2024

Conditions for Readmission

Depending on the circumstances of your withdrawal, you may have to submit additional materials along with your application for readmission. Exceptions to these requirements may be made on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of DigiPen’s administration.

Readmission After Medical Withdrawal

If you withdrew from DigiPen for medical reasons, you must send our Office of Admissions a physician’s statement indicating that you are ready to resume your studies and describing any accommodations you may require upon your return to campus. Your application cannot be processed without this statement.

Readmission After Academic Dismissal

If you are applying for readmission after academic dismissal, you must provide an explanation of what you have been doing since you last attended the institute, why you would like to return, and how you plan to be successful in returning. The DigiPen Office of Admissions will carefully consider this explanation during the review of your application for readmission. Please note that students who have been withdrawn for academic reasons may not return to the institution until the semester following the one-semester suspension period. Upon application, the Appeals Committee will review your application and supporting documentation before issuing a decision. Students may apply for readmission to their eligible semester as soon as the admission period for that semester opens and applicable materials are available for submission.

Readmission After Disciplinary Action

If you were suspended from DigiPen for disciplinary reasons or you left with disciplinary charges pending, you must receive clearance from the Office of the Vice President for Student Engagement to return. Please include a formal appeal for review along with your application.

Readmission for Personal Reasons

If you were in good academic and financial standing when you withdrew, there are usually no impediments to returning other than space availability. However, you may need to develop an academic plan with your advisor. Students requesting readmission after an extended period of time must meet with an academic advisor to determine the viability of completing a degree program.

Readmission After Non-Payment of Account

If you were withdrawn for non-payment of your account, you must first settle your account before applying for readmission. Once you have settled your account, the policy for readmission follows the same guidelines as those listed under Readmission for Personal Reasons.

Readmission After Military Service

In compliance with the Higher Education Authorization Act, any student whose absence from DigiPen is required by reason of service in the uniformed services shall be entitled to readmission if the student (or an appropriate officer of the Armed Forces or official of the Department of Defense) gives advance written or verbal notice of such service to the Office of the Registrar. The cumulative length of the absence and of all previous absences by reason of service in the uniformed services cannot exceed five years, and, except as otherwise provided in this section, you must submit a notification of intent to re-enroll in the institute.

Readmission Into a New Degree Program

If you would like to return to DigiPen as a student but enter into a new degree program, you must submit any additional materials required for entrance into the degree program to which you would like to enter. Review the Change of Major information online or in the DigiPen Course Catalog or contact the Office of Admissions at admissions@digipen.edu for more information.

How to Apply for Readmission

To apply for readmission, you must complete the Readmission Application. Along with your application, you will need to include a non-refundable $25.00 application fee, official transcripts from all institutions attended since last attending DigiPen, and other official documentation required for specific circumstances (see above). If you are approved for readmission with coursework in progress, your admission status will be provisional, pending receipt of your final transcripts.

If you are applying for readmission more than one year after withdrawing from DigiPen and you are not a native English speaker, you may have to submit additional Proof of English Language Proficiency.
