It was DigiPen’s combination of talented faculty, targeted courses, and multiple game projects that helped me learn the specialized knowledge necessary to start my journey as a professional game developer.”

A Growing, Lasting Network

While our graduates are spread far and wide around the globe, many of our alumni go on to work at the same companies as their peers, creating communities of DigiPen graduates within certain major game studios. Here are a few of the Seattle-area companies that have hired a number of our grads over the years.

For me, all things being equal, the DigiPen graduate goes straight to the top of the pile, because they’re usually smarter. They’re usually taught better in terms of things that really matter — not just in the game development world, but in the software development world, period.”

Jeff Strain

Founder of Undead Labs

A Focused Education with Broad Applications

Think a DigiPen education is only applicable to video games? Not at all! DigiPen’s project-based approach creates alumni who thrive in team environments, know how to navigate challenges, and solve problems. Our alumni have applied their talents to a wide spectrum of pursuits in technology, business, aerospace, simulation, TV and film entertainment, and other related industries.

Salary Outlook

The median DigiPen salary 10 years after attending DigiPen is $81,300.

Recent data* shows that the median salary after attending DigiPen is $81,300, which is $47,000 above the national average. That puts DigiPen at #1 for all schools in Washington State, #25 for all colleges and universities nationwide, and #11 among U.S. schools with computer and information science programs for that particular metric.

*Based on College Scorecard data from March 29, 2018.

DigiPen graduates are great hires, because they arrive with tactical skills that let them hit the ground running in game development.”

The Portal Connection

In 2005, after meeting the student developers of Narbacular Drop at the DigiPen Career Fair, representatives from Valve hired the entire team of graduating seniors to re-develop their student project Narbacular Drop into the 2007 smash hit Portal. Four years later, at another Career Fair, history repeated itself when Valve met with and later hired the student developers of Tag: The Power of Paint. That game's inventive paint gun would go on to inspire the gel mechanics used in Portal 2.
