It wouldn’t be the end of spring semester at DigiPen without a celebration — a celebration of games, that is!

To commemorate the conclusion of another year, the Dragon community joined together both in person and online last month for the annual Student Game Showcase. It was a chance to unveil the official gameplay trailers for dozens of brand-new game projects, all created during the 2022-23 academic year by teams of freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, and graduate-level DigiPen students.

As always, the trailers on display hinted at all manner of intriguing concepts — including a multidimensional chess game, a side-scrolling rollerblade platformer, a magic-based farming sim, and a game about pressure washing cute alien creatures covered in goop, to name a few.

Presiding over this year’s event, Doug Zwick and Andy Kaplan — both instructors for the junior game project classes — introduced each batch of trailers.

“We have all these students who have made games for one, two, in some cases three semesters. And they all worked super hard,” Zwick, who also hosts the weekly DigiPen Show livestream on Twitch, said.
