DigiPen Institute of Technology isn't your typical college. Located in Redmond, Washington, a global hub for video game development with over 350 interactive media companies nearby, DigiPen prepares students to enter the industry as world-class programmers, artists, designers, and engineers ready to face the challenges of creating cutting-edge software and entertainment media.
DigiPen offers a unique approach to education. Rather than selecting their major after they begin their studies, our students apply directly to one of DigiPen's seven undergraduate and two graduate degree programs and start learning the fundamentals of their field from their first day of class. DigiPen's curriculum combines rigorous academic courses in foundational subjects like math, physics, and computer science (for BSCS students) or color, tone, and composition (for BFA students) with practical, team-based projects where students create their own games, animations, and even computer hardware under real-world conditions. Throughout their education, students benefit from small class sizes and personal attention from faculty who are deeply invested in their success.
DigiPen is currently accepting applications for Fall 2014. DigiPen works on a rolling admissions basis, which means applications are evaluated as students complete them and typically return a decision within two to four weeks. There is no deadline for admission, and we continue to accept qualified applicants until all seats are filled. However, DigiPen encourages students to apply early for the most access to scholarships and other services. DigiPen has a priority deadline for our Merit Scholarship of February 1 and a primary deadline for the Merit and other scholarships of April 1. For more information about the application process, see Undergraduate Admission Requirements or Graduate Admission Requirements.
DigiPen works with nearby apartment complexes to offer convenient and affordable housing to incoming first-year students through DigiPen Housing LLC. DigiPen Housing LLC room availability is limited, and not all first-year students are guaranteed a space. Admitted students who apply for housing by the May 1 deadline will receive priority when DigiPen Housing LLC begins making housing assignments. For more information, see DigiPen Housing.
DigiPen offers numerous ways to finance your education, including federal and private loans, need-based and non-need-based grants, and a number of scholarships specifically for DigiPen students.* DigiPen also recognizes veteran benefits via the GI Bill.
