What is it like to work on a triple-A video game project? How does professional game development compare to other forms of software development?

Peter Kugler, a DigiPen graduate and Engineering Lead at Bungie, will be presenting about his personal journey into the game industry. He’ll provide an overview of what makes game development stand out from traditional software development, sharing the design and production process used to develop popular games such as Destiny and Destiny 2.

About the Speaker

Peter Kugler has been working in games as a software engineer for over 10 years, with credits on Call of Duty 3, Halo 3: ODST through Halo 5: Guardians, and Destiny and Destiny 2. Prior to games, he was a Special Education teacher for over seven years. Peter is currently an engineering lead at Bungie, on a research and development team focused on optimizing collaboration within the production pipeline for the Destiny franchise.

Peter lives with his wife, 9-year-old son, and 7-year-old daughter in Kenmore, Washington. He loves spending his time trekking along the Burke Gillman trail on family bike rides, playing Settlers of Catan: Junior and reading comics at family-friendly coffee shops, taking spontaneous road trips along the coast, and of course playing video games.
