Archive Policy

Student Data Archive Policy

On the third week of each semester, except the summer semester, we identify all students who are not matriculated and not a member of any department groups.

These Accounts are/will be:

  1. Account status will be changed to "Limited" or "Alumni" as appropriate.
  2. Home drives will be archived.
    • The entire home drive will be archived as<code> ${userame}.tar.bz2 </code>and moved to the archive-home directory.
    • The home directory will then be removed.
  3. The student's personal SVN repository will be archived.
    • The repository will be archived as <code>${username}-svn.tar.bz2</code> and moved to the archive-svn directory.
    • The repository directory will then be removed.

Employee Data Archive Policy

On the last day of employment an employee account will be archived.

  1. Account status will be changed to "Disabled".
  2. Home drives will be archived.
    • The entire home drive will be archived as<code> ${userame}.tar.bz2 </code>and moved to the archive-home directory.
    • The home directory may be moved as desired by the department manager; else it will be deleted.
  3. The student's personal SVN repository will be archived.
    • The repository will be archived as <code>${username}-svn.tar.bz2</code> and moved to the archive-svn directory.
    • The repository directory will then be removed; unless the department manager requests that it be preserved.

Repository Archive Policy

Any SVN team with zero or fewer members will be archived.

  1. The team group will be removed.
  2. The repository will be archived as ${team}-svn<code>.tar.bz2</code> and moved the archive-svn directory.
  3. The repository directory will then be removed.

Course Archive Policy

After each semester, before the next semester begins, all the course data will be archived.
