Financial Aid Calendar

December

Paper versions of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) are available from high schools and colleges for the next academic year. We encourage you to use the FAFSA on the Web (http://www.fafsa.ed.gov) to transmit your FAFSA/Renewal FAFSA online. If you prefer to send in a paper FAFSA, entering freshmen should receive the paper FAFSA from their high school. Continuing and transfer students should use the Renewal FAFSA or renewal PIN. If you do not receive a Renewal FAFSA/PIN or you are not able to receive a paper FAFSA from a local high school or college, you may request one by contacting FAFSA at 1-800-4-Fed-Aid. Please specify that you would like a FAFSA included in the information we send you. You will be asked to provide your name, address, and the year of the application you are requesting.

Early December to mid-January

The Department of Education sends out Renewal FAFSA e-mail reminders to students who filed valid FAFSA applications the previous year and provided e-mail addresses on their applications. The notice provides instructions for those who have forgotten their Department of Education PIN and the Web address for the Renewal FAFSA process on the Web.

January 2

The first day Renewal FAFSA applications, regular FAFSA applications, and FAFSA on the Web can be signed and submitted to the federal processor. DigiPen's Office of Financial Aid will have the Institute's Financial Aid forms available after this date.

Late January

DigiPen's Office of Financial Aid starts to mail acknowledgement mailers for those applications we have received. We also start to mail out requests for information based on a review of your application.

February 15

Send or transmit your FAFSA or Renewal FAFSA in order to meet DigiPen's April 15th priority deadline.

February 28

In order to meet DigiPen's priority deadline, your FAFSA needs to be dated as received by the federal processor on or before February 28. We award aid to applicants that apply after this date, but reserve our best funds for our on-time, priority applicants.

April 15

DigiPen Financial Aid Application is due. Tuition deposit is due for Fall semester.

May

Revision Request forms are available to tell our office about changes in income and additional expenses. Students and parents can also write letters describing any changes in financial circumstances or unusual situations they would like our office to consider.

June

Tuition due for Fall semester.

Spring & Summer Months

Our office reviews information we requested from you or new information you request. Information is reviewed chronologically. We accept applications throughout the year and, depending on the time of year, award from two to four weeks after we receive your application. You should apply as soon as you know you need assistance, but apply well in advance.
