Manual

The Story

Last Stand is set on a series of alien planets that have been colonized by cutting-edge space explorers. The harsh planet surfaces were unsuitable for human life, so the explorers tunneled underground and built a colonies beneath each planet's surface. Unfortunately, the colonists did not study each planet closely enough. The planets were already inhabited by an alien race. The aliens are protective of the resources on their planets and are not very happy about the intruders! The player takes the role of a lone space marine posted at various hatches that leads to civilian colonies. He must defend these hatches at all costs against the assaulting alien hordes.

How To Play

The game is played via two modes that the player can switch back and forth from at any time during game play. These modes are Action Mode and Build Mode.

The game consists of playing scenarios. Each scenario pits the player to protect a hatch or multiple hatches from being destroyed. Scenarios are timed and require the player to last until the scenario time is up. The player earns resources by killing enemies. The player will earn resouces from enemies killed by his turrets, but he'll earn a lot more by killing enemies with his personal weapons. You can spend resources to build turrets, build walls, or research new upgrades for structures and personal weapons.

Action Mode: This mode plays like a First-Person-Shooter. You have access to selection of weapons and gadgets to bring the hurt to your enemies. Unlike other FPS's though, the player is completly immune from his enemies, as they are only interested in taking out his hatch.

  • Blaster - A quick firing weapon with line of sight aiming.
  • Launcher - A slow firing weapon that launches masses of enegy, exploding on contact and dealing splash damage.
  • Repair Tool - Can be used to repair lost armor to damaged structures. Needs to be used close by to the structure to be repaired.
  • Land Mines - A few moments after hitting the ground, they activate. When an enemies comes near, they blow up, dealing massive damage to enemies nearby.
  • Instant Turrets - A small deployable turret that can be used any where. Acts like a small powerful Machine Gun Turret that lasts for a short while.
  • Pheremones - These Triblit attracting pheremones can be used to lure them into your our traps.
  • Machine Gun Ultimate - A massive rain of bullets comes down from the skies to destroy your enemies.
  • Laser Ultimate - A bombardant of laser explosions come down to lay waste to your enemies.
  • Shell Ultimate - Call in a missle strike that blows a giant crater into the ground.
  • Stasis Ultimate - A stasis field is generated that slows all enemies movement and attack speed to all enemies who are caught in it.

Build Mode: In this mode, the player is able to place down walls and turrets to defend hatches from his enemies.

  • Machine Gun Turret - Fires quickly and can do a medium amount of damage, but has a short range.
  • Laser Turret - Has a medium rate of fire and a long range while dealing heavy damage to single enemies.
  • Shell Turret - Launches energy masses at enemies that explode on contact, dealing splash damage. Can not target enemies close by.
  • Stasis Turret - Any enemy hit will have its movement speed and attack speed slowed until they die. Has a medium range.
  • Wall - Are used to defend your turrets and the hatch. They have the most armor in the game.

Tips and Tricks

You can stand on top of your own structures. The top of a turret makes a great vantage point for taking out the enemy.

If you are having trouble on a level, make sure you spend your resources wisely. It can be better sometimes to save your resources in order to research more powerful structures instead of building right away.

Remember, you earn more resources when you kill enemies with your personal weapons. If you are low on resources, take the action to the enemy. Specifically, look for the best targets, such as tightly packed groups of enemies and the more powerful enemies as these will earn you even more resources.
